Over the years Akıncı, founded in 1984, has acquired a reputation locally and abroad for providing high-quality service in a number of crucial practice areas involving business relationships and large scale projects in various industries and countries. Akıncı now has over 20 attorneys. Unique for a Turkish law firm, we have attorneys licensed in a variety of jurisdictions outside of Turkey, including the U.K. and the U.S. We also maintain a close relationship with numerous foreign firms, all of which increases our reach in the region and beyond. Besides having attorneys who are native Turkish speakers, all of whom are also fluent in English (and several of whom are fluent in French as well), we also have native English, Russian and Romania speakers. Also, uniquely, we employ an experienced construction engineer, due to our large volume of work related to the construction sector.
Given the wide-ranging expertise of our team members, our office is exceedingly versatile, and our work is carried out with sophistication and efficiently. We consider our competition to be the international law firms.
Akıncı is also quite active in the local legal and business community, with the firm and/or its members belonging to and active in the Turkish British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (London-based), the Turkish German Lawyers Association, the Turkish Lawyers Association, the Turkish-Scandinavian Businessmen’s Association, and the local branches of the British, U.S., Swiss and Swedish Chambers of Commerce.
During just the past year Akıncı has sponsored or co-sponsored several conferences at the firm; with presentations on “Working in Turkey,” “Termination of Construction Contracts,” “International Distribution Agreements and Goodwill Indemnity” and “State Procurement Regulations and Government Contracts in Russia,” as well as an “Interactive Session on Using English Law.” Moreover, several of our members have extensively published, including both books and articles on a wide range of legal subjects.
